Music & politics in post-war Germany

Illustration for Opus - a Swedish classical music magazine - on how music became politics in post world war II Germany. The allied forces saw German composers as carriers of the Third Reich thougts and ideas and hence it should be banned. Instead the people of Germany should listen to American / English / Soviet (depending on where in Germany one happened to live) composers instead. That this particular kind of "cultural propaganda" was something that Hitler and his minions had already been practising throughout their reign was a thought that probably did not cross any of the occupants mind at the time.
